Falling blocks
Stack the pieces that fall and clear full lines to wipe them out.
The basic rules
Each falling piece has four squares. You shift the piece sideways and rotate it to pick the orientation. When a horizontal row fills up, it clears.
- Arrow keys or A and D move the piece; up arrow rotates it.
- The next piece appears below the board.
- Clearing several lines at once is worth far more points.
Where most players get stuck
The common mistake is leaving gaps along the bottom. Once a gap forms it is hard to fill, and the board fills up before you notice.
| Mistake | Why it hurts | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Gap at the bottom | Fill the leftmost column first | Hold off on the I piece for a bit |
| Stacking too tall | Keep the top clear for the longest piece | Clear lines as soon as you can |
| Rotating without a plan | The piece gets stuck and blocks the column | Decide the target before rotating |
