How to play
How do you play Futoshiki?
Futoshiki is played on a square grid. Fill every cell with a digit so that each row and each column contains every digit exactly once (like Sudoku but without 3x3 boxes). Some adjacent cells are joined by inequality signs (< or >) that the digits must satisfy. Use logic to deduce each number.
What is the goal of Futoshiki?
The goal is to complete the grid so that (1) every row has all distinct numbers, (2) every column has all distinct numbers, and (3) every inequality sign between two cells is satisfied. The puzzle has exactly one solution, so pure logic is enough.
Is Futoshiki the same as Greater-Than Sudoku?
No. Greater-Than Sudoku adds inequality signs on top of the Sudoku 3x3 box rules. Futoshiki has no boxes at all — only row and column uniqueness (a Latin square) plus the inequality signs. This makes Futoshiki its own distinct puzzle type.
Can I use hints in Futoshiki?
Yes! Tap the Hint button to reveal one correct cell. Using hints reduces your star rating for the level, so use them only when stuck.
